About Me

I am on a quest to unlock secrets of life-long health and beauty. This is my playground, my sandbox, my bag of tricks... I am a firm believer that we can achieve ultimate health and happiness through good nutrition and balanced living. “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” with a little supplementation on the side. My reviews reflect my leanings about food, nutrition and chemistry. I will be posting updates to my older reviews as I uncover new facts and observe subtle correlations and dependencies.

Questionable Fillers

Publicado por DinaB123 en Jul 02, 2012 | Compra Verificada

This product contains magnesium stearate. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid are major T-cell suppressors and creators of a biofilm in the gut. Biofilm acts as an effective barrier to the absorption of not only that particular supplement that contains magnesium stearate, but ALL the nutrients you'd normally get from food sources as well. Hence, one star.

no kick, no umph

Before this one I used a different products that actually smelled like turmeric. Also I am not sure it has the same anti-inflammatory fighting power. I recently had to ingest gluten for the sake of testing. This supplement did not quell the fire the way the other brand does (Paradise Herbs, Organics, Turmeric). I switched from Paradise Herbs to Now Food because I was not sure about Paradise Herbs certification claims, since they are not GMP, but DEA and OTC compliant. The latter two and more about controlled substances, but not manufacturing practices. But after discovering that Now Foods turmeric contains magnesium stearate, I will certainly switch back. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid are major T-cell suppressors and creators of a biofilm in the gut. Biofilm acts as an effective barrier to the absorption of not only that particular supplement that contains magnesium stearate, but ALL the nutrients you'd normally get from food sources as well.

Great product!

Although it is mainly marketed to help women overcome menopausal symptoms, it is also great for fighting acne in both men and women of any age. I suffer from hormonal-induced breakouts. I have been taking it for about 3 weeks in the combination with A, E and Zinc Citrate. So far - no breakouts!

Nicely balanced, but has questionable fillers

Publicado por DinaB123 en Nov 23, 2010 | Compra Verificada

This is a well balanced multivitamin. Make sure to supplement it with extra cahlcium if your kids don't get enough from food. Easy to chew, no complains about taste. IMPORTUNATELY this product contains magnesium stearate.

This high dosage is recommended for 30 DAY intake only to kick-off a new acne-fighting campaign. Taken with vitamin E, primrose oil and zinc citrate, it helps celar up the skin.

Cannot be more pure

Publicado por DinaB123 en Jun 29, 2012 | Compra Verificada

The capsules are from fish gelatin. Such a rarity! I take it over any other from of gelatin. Unlike ubiquinone, ubiquinol form of CoQ10 is highly bioactive, it does not require prior conversion in the body. Since we lose the natural ability to convert ubiquinone with age, older individuals should take ubiquinol for maximum effect. Pricey, but is is worth it.
